Dua For Before Sleeping & Dua After Waking Up

Dua For Before Sleeping & Dua After Waking Up

Seeking Protection and Blessings Dua For Before Sleeping

(Dua For Before Sleeping & Dua After Waking Up )Before retiring to bed, Muslims are encouraged to recite specific duas to seek protection from harm, seek forgiveness for sins, and express gratitude for the day’s blessings. One of the most commonly recited duas before sleeping is found in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:286):

“Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we forget or make a mistake. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people.”

This dua encapsulates the essence of seeking Allah’s protection, forgiveness, mercy, and guidance, acknowledging human fallibility and dependence on divine grace.

اَللّهُمَّ بِسْمِكَ أَمُوْتُ وَ أَحْيَ

O Allah , with Your name do I die and live.
(Tirmidhi, Vol. 2, Pg. 178)

 Dua After Waking Up

Gratitude and Invocation of Blessings

Upon waking up from sleep, Muslims are encouraged to recite dua expressing gratitude for being granted another day of life and seeking Allah’s blessings for the day ahead. One of the prophetic duas recommended after waking up is:

“Alhamdulillahil-lathee ‘ahyaanaa ba’da maa ‘amaatanaa wa’ilayhin-nushoor.”

Translation: “All praise is for Allah who gave us life after having taken it from us and unto Him is the resurrection.”

This dua serves as a reminder of the transient nature of life, the blessing of being granted another day, and the ultimate return to Allah.

All praise is due to Allah who has given us life after death
and to Him is the return after death.
